Former Lovelyz Kei to Join Cast of Korean Musical Adaptation of 'Death Note'

Ex-Lovelyz Kei to Return to the Entertainment Industry with Highly-Anticipated Comeback of the Musical 'Death Note'
According to Korean media outlet News 1 on January 18, Kim Ji Yeon, also known as Kei, was confirmed to join the cast for the musical "Death Note," which will open in the first half of this year.
In particular, "Death Note" is based on a popular anime of the same name depicting a witty battle between a genius high school student Light and a famous detective L.

The story begins when the former accidentally picks up a "Death Note" a shinigami (death god) named Ryuk dropped. Light then discovered how people die when he writes a name in the note, and the story's tension will arise from this. The musical version premiered in Korea in 2015.
As it returns in five years since its premiere, "Death Note" is also drawing attention to the casting of main and supporting actors. The work will open in April 2022 at the Chungmu Art Center Grand Theater.

Lovelyz virtually announced their disbandment last year as all members (except Babysoul) did not renew their contracts with their former agency Woollim Entertainment.
Since then, Kei has moved to PALMTREE ISLAND, founded by Kim Junsu.
In 2015, it was known that the male icon also joined the musical, "Death Note" as "L"; thus, the expectation is high whether he will join the play with the same character again.
In line with Kei's transfer and new start under his agency, the female idol also received anticipation to see her growth in the new musical.
In 2017, Kim Ji Yeon (Kei) debuted as a musical actress with "At the Age of Thirty," where he played the role of Okhee.
In 2021, she cemented her name with "Midnight Sun," where she played the main role Haena.
In 2022 then, she started the year with a special appearance in the musical, "XCalibur," where she got the role of Guinevere.
In April, Kei drew attention if what role she will be playing, and there is increasing anticipation to see her growth.
As the former main vocalist o Lovelyz and one of the top vocalists in the K-pop industry, her fans and supporters are also curious whether she will debut as a solo artist under PALMTREE ISLAND.
