Red Velvet Irene Embroiled in Another 'Power Abuse' Controversy
On July 29, an article titled, "Irene's recent status when she went on vacation with a close staff," was posted on online communities.
The writer highlighted how the show was described and criticized it by saying:
"(The news says), 'Irene recently went on vacation with her close staff so that she will reveal her comfortable and unpretentious appearance through entertainment programs.' However, the photos taken at the actual vacation spot are a little strange."
Attached in the post are the "Feel My Rhythm" singer and the staff' photos taken at an airport in Bali.
Internet users pointed out that contrary to Irene's comfortable appearance with just a bag on her shoulder, the staff team was seen dragging an airport cart with a lot of luggage. It was interpreted that the idol 'let her friends carry all her luggage.'

As a result, the controversy over Irene's power abuse of staff in the past is being mentioned again. Earlier, Irene was pointed out as a 'gapjjl' (power trip) celebrity in January 2020, sparking controversy over her true personality.

Amid criticism, some people defended the idol. The media outlet TenAsia stated:
