BTS J-Hope Reveals How Long He Practiced for Lollapalooza 2022 Performance

On July 31 local time, BTS rapper J-Hope made history by becoming the first-ever South Korean artist to headline the main stage of this year's annual Lollapalooza music festival, held at the Grand Park in Chicago. Not only that, but because of his performance, Lollapalooza recorded their most in-demand single-day ticket as J-Hope became the biggest draw the festival has ever had in 31 years.

As part of his stage, which has been dubbed the "Hobipalooza" by fans, J-Hope ended the music festival with a bang by performing a whopping 20 songs. His historical performance featured songs from BTS' past albums, as well as from J-Hope's albums "Hope World" and his latest release "Jack In The Box."

Some of the songs lucky fans heard live included "Hope World," "Base Line," "Cypher Pt. 1," "Daydream," "Dynamite (Tropical Remix)," "Outro: Ego," "Trivia 起: Just Dance," and "Chicken Noodle Soup" which featured Becky G for their first-ever live performance together.

Following his immensely successful headlining performance, he and fellow BTS member Jimin went on to Naver V LIVE to hold a live broadcast with fans to talk about Lollapalooza.

During the broadcast, J-Hope thanked fans, saying, "Everyone, [Lollapalooza] is finally over. I am really grateful."

He then revealed how many hours he dedicated of his time to rehearse and perfect his Lollapalooza performance. He shared that he took around six hours of his day every single day to practice for a month or two for his 20-song setlist.

"I practiced for about six hours every day. It is an important performance, and I can't stain BTS' name with such a huge performance as BTS' J-Hope," said the "Arson" rapper.

Jimin Played Big Role in J-Hope's Performance

J-Hope added that Jimin also attended his Lollapalooza performance and felt comfort knowing he was there to show his support. Jimin then complimented J-Hope and his performance, saying, "I really watched as a fan today."

J-Hope then shared that Jimin played a big role in his preparations for the performance, saying, "Jimin's help played a big role. While preparing for Lollapalooza, I was in a dark world. But he became my light."

Jimin added that it must have been hard for J-Hope, as they had been promoting as a group for years, and this was the first time he performed on his own.

J-Hope then concluded, saying, "I think I had a really good experience. It was definitely fun taking on the challenge myself." They wrapped up by saying that the other BTS members are working on music in good health and are doing well.
