4th-Gen Visuals Wonyoung, Yuna & Sullyoon Dubbed as the Next 'Yoon-Suz-Sul'

On August 25, a post on the online community Instiz became a hot topic among K-pop fans after a netter claimed that the current visual line in K-pop is "Jang-Yu-Sul," which stands for IVE Jang Wonyoung, ITZY Yuna, and NMIXX Sullyoon.

In another fandom community, they were also compared to the legendary "Yoon-Suz-Sul" visual line, comprised of Girls' Generation YoonA, former Miss A Bae Suzy and the late Choi Sulli.

In particular, a visual line is a term usually used in K-pop means a group of idols who shine best among other stars for their beauty, and can set the whole industry in a frenzy once they stand together in one frame.

Although numerous idols possess beauty from the second-gen of K-pop such as Jiyeon and Krystal, "Yoon-Suz-Sul" is the most popular line of visual idols. They often make headlines with just their appearance, no matter how short or long it is!

When the post was uploaded, it immediately gained various reactions such as:

"I actually see a lot of people mentioning Jang-Yu-Sul on the internet. Of course, there are many pretty female idols from the 4th generation, but I can fully understand the rumors of the next generation visual line."

 "I actually read JangYuSul a lot?! So I thought they were popular already."

'Jang-Yu-Sul' Visual Line Draws Mixed Reactions

While some agreed that the trio comprised of Wonyoung, Yuna and Sullyoon is indeed the next-gen iconic visual line, a lot of K-pop disagreed.

The post sparked discussion among K-Netz after not seeing aespa Karina in the said visual line.

• "Where did Karina go? It should be Jang-Yoo-Sul instead (Jang Wonyoung, Yoo Jimin (Karina's real name) and Sullyoon)."
• "I've heard this a lot but where exactly is Karina in this?"

More supporters of other female idols also expressed why they don't agree with this visual line, explaining:

"It's meaningful in the past when you have a clear visual line like 'Yoon-Suz-Sul'. But I don't think it's meaningful anymore.

From the third generation, we also have Red Velvet Irene, BLACKPINK Jisoo, and TWICE Tzuyu, but since then, there was nothing special.

Yuna, Karina, and NewJeans Minji, are also often mentioned now, but some people are into Ryujin, Winter and Haerin. So it actually depends on your preference."

Some also stated that there's no visual line since there are a lot of fourth-gen idol who are extremely pretty aside the aforementioned.

"It's fascinating, but there are a lot of pretty and talented girls in the 4th generation. Everyone is tall and has a small head [...] If you choose it like this, the list will be very long."
