WekiMeki's main rapper and dancer, Choi Yoojung, will be releasing her first solo album after 6 years of debut.

Fantagio Entertainment, home to ASTRO, actors, actresses, and WekiMeki has announced yesterday that Choi Yoojung will release her first single album "Sunflower" on all music sites at 6 pm, Korean time on September 14th.

Choi Yoojung Going Solo After 6 years

Fantagio Music has released a dreamy teaser photo that shows a lovely and hip atmosphere. Yoojung is facing her back and is running towards a door in what looks like a lawn in front of a vacation house.

The girl group member is sporting orange long hair and yellow clothes with long white socks and yellow shoes. Her colors depict the color of a sunflower which is what her solo album is named after.

The photo and the fact that Choi Yoojung is releasing her first solo song now are making fans excited as to what kind of concert she will do.

Choi Yoojung is the main dancer of Weki Meki, she is loved for her bright energy, and is an all-around entertainer who stands out in various fields, from vocals to rap.

Through group activities, she has proven her universal concept digestibility from 'Teen Crush' to 'Girl Spirit', and she is also receiving a good response from the MZ generation by performing remarkable performances in a number of web dramas and entertainment shows.

Choi Yoojung Journey Before Going Solo

Choi Yoojung was first introduced to the K-pop scene in MNET's first produce series "Produce 101". She debuted with the final lineup and became an important member of I.O.I.

After 11 months with I.O.I, she debuted with co-I.O.I member Kim Doyeon with WekiMeki and released a bunch of songs like "Crush", "La La La", and "Picky Picky".

WekiMeki has been on hiatus ever since the last release "Siesta". However, members are active in different fields. Choi Yoojung featured in DOTOLI's song "With a Summer Night", which was released on September 17, 2021.

On October 6, 2021, SM Entertainment released through their Twitter account that DJ Raiden will feature Yoojung in his song "It Wasn't Me".

A year before that, Yoojung tried her luck with acting. She was one of the actresses in the web drama "Cast: The Golden Age of Insiders". She also has a drama with her comember Kim Doyeon titled "Single and Ready to Mingle".

Earlier this year, Yoojung was featured in a song titled "lazy" by singer Jinjin on his album with Rocky named "Restore".

Recently, Choi Yoojung was also featured in a song by rapper Ahn Byungwoong titled "UH-RA?". And now, she will be releasing her solo song.

I.O.I Reunion For 5th Anniversary

Two years ago was I.O.I's 5th debut anniversary. On May 4, 2021, the members of I.O.I held a live stream show named "Yes, I Love It!" to celebrate the milestone.
