For the success of a K-pop idol, they heavily rely on the support of their agency and its staff members. Idols usually end up forming a close bond with the people who have made their careers happen, or someone who has closely worked with them throughout their careers.

Unfortunately, being a K-pop idol doesn't make them immune to being betrayed by the people closest to them.

With that, here are some of the K-pop stars who were betrayed by their own staff members.

1. MOMOLAND Nancy

Back in 2021, MOMOLAND Nancy became a victim of a hidden camera crime after a photo of the idol changing clothes backstage circulated online. The photo in question was reportedly taken by a staff member of MLD Entertainment back in November 2019, when the group attended the Asia Artist Awards held in Hanoi, Vietnam.

According to MLD Entertainment at the time, the hidden camera photo of Nancy was photoshopped, and that they would be taking strong legal action against the person who took the photo, the original person who spread it, as well as the people who continue to share it online for sexual harassment and the spreading of illicit photos.

2. Super Junior

During an episode of My Little Old Boy, the Super Junior members revealed that they caught their former manager stealing numerous items, such as scarves, watches, fragrances, gifts from fans, and other expensive things after Yesung spotted the manager going through his belongings.

When the manager was confronted, the situation escalated when he began acting crazy. Leeteuk even had to block the manager from going into the kitchen, just in case he got a knife.

They later discovered the former manager was piling the stolen items at a hidden place for several months.

3. BLACKPINK Lisa

One of the most well-known cases of a K-pop idol getting scammed by their own staff member was BLACKPINK Lisa.

Back in 2020, Lisa was scammed by a whopping $1 billion KRW (around $816,000 USD at the time) by her now ex-manager, someone who she had been working with and trusted since her rookie days.

According to reports, the manager had offered to look into property investments for the Thai idol, with Lisa unsuspectingly handing over the money, and was subsequently used by the manager to gamble.

Fortunately, a part of the money was repaid, with an agreement for the manager to pay the rest later on made.

4. SEVENTEEN

A rather common issue in the K-pop industry, SEVENTEEN is a victim of having the members' private information leaked by their own staff members.

In particular, back in 2018, fans became suspicious and raised the concern of the members' private information being leaked after the group was followed by cars following their concert.

Pledis Entertainment later confirmed that the members' personal information, as well as their schedule, had been leaked by staff members.

They agency apologized, and promised to punish and train the agency's employees.
