EXO Baekhyun's Name Appears in BL Webtoon, Description Angers EXO-Ls
On October 24, Webtoon Platform A released a list of new works that will be released on the 26th and 27th.
Among the new works, the story's description and name of the main character of the new webtoon, written by Company A, became controversial.

In particular, this is because the main character's name is Ko Baekhyun. Using the name itself is not the problem, but the character's description does not sit well with fans.
"Baekhyun has gained only the reputation of being a light-hearted guy because he only pursued one night (stand)."

As a result, some EXO-Ls (fandom) who encountered the BL webtoon criticized the writer for writing such a description and said:
- "You are promoting it with too provocative comments."
- "You should have added the character's last name."
- "Baekhyun was damaged while staying still."
- "Change the name right away."
Fans emphasized that since the name Baekhyun is really rare in Korea, some people who may come across the description of webtoon may automatically think about the popular idol. They added that this may also be used against Baekhyun.
On October 25, the author of the controversial webtoon wrote their response through Twitter.
"I decided to change the name of the main character. It might be a little awkward for those who have seen the work since it's in a blog. I hope you understand. I hope there was no misunderstanding. I'm changing the name of the main character of the work to Lee Hyun."
But amid the controversy, some people defended the author.

Some think that the writer didn't deserve such criticism, saying:
- "Why are you cursing at the writer?"
- "I don't think that's intentional."
Others then agreed to EXO-L sentiments and wrote:
- "The promotional description was phrased wrong."
- "I would have felt bad if I were a fan, too."
- "I'm upset even if I'm a fan of the writer."

Meanwhile, Baekhyun has been serving as a social service worker since May 2021. He is the sixth EXO member to enlist in the military following D.O., Xiumin, Suho, Chen and Chanyeol. He wasn't able to serve as an active service officer due to his hypothyroidism.
According to reports and the timeline of his service, EXO Baekhyun is expected to be discharged in February 2023.
EXO-Ls are excited about what kind of activities and releases the million-seller artist will showcase as a soloist and as a member of EXO. While serving in the military, he's still occasionally communicating with fans through Twitter, professing his love for them.
