TIME has revealed its list of 5 best K-pop songs and 5 best K-pop albums of 2022. Both solo and group releases made it to the list.

The magazine said, "The best K-pop songs and albums of 2022 surprised us with their sound, their lyrics, and the feelings they evoke." They then noted that only full-length projects were included in the albums list, and that the releases are in no particular order.

"BTBT" by B.I x Soulja feat. DeVita

"BTBT" was a pre-release single dropped on May 13. It was dropped ahead of the release of B.I's mini-album "Love or Loved Part.1" on Nov. 18. TIME Magazine described "BTBT" as a "groovy track that seduces with its smooth melodies as much as it does with its inviting lyrics."

"GingaMingaYo" by Billlie

Billlie's "GingaMingayo" went viral because of member Tsuki's various facial expressions on music show performances.

TIME Magazine commented that "GingaMingayo" has these "crispy chants" and "boisterous beats" plus the girl group "singing almost enthusiastically about uncertainties of adulting." and because of these, the publication find the song "entirely weird" but also "entirely weirdly brilliant."

"HELLO" by TREASURE

TREASURE's "HELLO" has also been chosen as one of TIME's best K-pop songs of 2022. The magazine said that "HELLO" is "nostalgic and futuristic" at the same time. They added, "Nostalgic because of its composition that's reminiscent of early 2010s pop, futuristic because there's something about TREASURE's delivery."

"Hype Boy" by NewJeans

NewJeans' smash hit "Hype Boy" also made it to TIME's list. The song isn't only popular among idols but to actors as well.

The publication stated, "Its music was characterized not by a fiery intensity but laid-back subtlety. But that does not mean Newjeans' songs lack energy."

"LOVE DIVE" by IVE

The last release included in TIME's "5 Best K-pop Songs of 2022" is IVE's "LOVE DIVE." The magazine took note of how this track "immediately piques our interest" and how Leeseo captivates with her "delicate 'ooh'." They further said that "LOVE DIVE" only becomes more "captivating as IVE's rich voices glide over dreamy synths."

"Lowlife Princess: Noir" by BIBI

TIME Magazine said that BIBI doesn't only communicate her threat level through lyrics but through her voice as well. "BIBI's voice, smokey and husky, is one that tells a million stories," they commented.

"Sector 17" by SEVENTEEN

SEVENTEEN's "Sector 17" has also been chosen as among the best K-pop albums of 2022 by TIME Magazine. The publication described the album, which contains songs in "Face the Sun" aside from the four new ones, as "superior."

"INVU" by TAEYEON

Another full-length album by a soloist on the list, "INVU" was described by the magazine as a "canvas" and TAEYEON is the "master painter who splashes it in all the hues and shades of her voice."

"I NEVER DIE" by (G)I-DLE

G)I-DLE's "I NEVER DIE" has also been selected as one of TIME's best K-pop albums of 2022. The magazine stated, "Across eight tracks, (G)I-DLE impresses not just with performance but with production."

"Indigo" by RM

The last project on the list is RM's "Indigo." The publication said that BTS leader's meditations are always "specific and universal" all at once, and that we're humans looking for "our voice, our place of belonging, our personal 'flower field.'"
