Ex-SES Eugene Shows Off Youthful Visuals, Proves 'Nation's Fairy' Title

In the fourth-gen K-pop era, there is a heated discussion regarding who really are the most beautiful visual idols. Oftentimes, fans select the No. 1 among IVE Jang Wonyoung, ITZY Yuna, NewJeans Minji, (G)I-DLE Miyeon, aespa Karina, LE SSERAFIM Kazuha, and NMIXX Sullyoon.

But former S.E.S Eugene just reminded the K-pop scene of what a real "fairy" beauty is after she uploaded her new photos.

In context, the former idol immigrated to Guam at the age of 12 and grew up in the U.S. island territory before she went back to Korea to prepare for her S.E.S. debut. Upon being introduced in the roster, she was dubbed as the "Nation's Fairy" for her doll- and fairy-like beauty.

Fast forward to January 10, Eugene, who is now 41, posted a set of photos with her husband Ki Taeyoung and two daughters, Lohee and Lorin, from their vacation in Guam.

In her post, she wrote:

"As expected, I really like it warm (weather). It's because I'm an island girl."

She then revealed her photos wearing a tube top, capturing herself relaxing in a resort. Immediately after she posted the photos, it attracted the attention of K-pop fans, surprised at Eugene's youthful beauty.

Many idols shy away from showing their bare faces, Eugene confidently revealed her face with little to no makeup. The idol-turned-actress was lauded for her flawless skin.

Eugene debuted as a first-gen idol in 1997 after being introduced as an S.E.S member. The trio was launched by SM Entertainment through the debut album, "I'm Your Girl."

At the time, the idol drew admiration for her pure and innocent beauty, starting the trend of black, straight hairstyle. With their appearance, S.E.S. earned the nickname "Nation's Fairy."

In addition to this, Eugene was given the moniker "Korean Olivia Hussey," as she gave the same atmosphere as the English actress who played Juliet from the 1968 film, "Romeo and Juliet."

Meanwhile, when fans saw her photos, the "Be Natural" singer received positive comments such as:

• "She's the best-looking K-pop idol of all time."
• "She's the most beautiful woman."
• "Goddess of beauty, indeed."

In the comments, some BLINKs (BLACKPINK fandom) also certified her resemblance with Jisoo.

• "You look like BLACKPINK Jisoo."
• "No, BLACKPINK Jisoo looks like Eugene."
• "Is this what Jisoo will look like in her 40s?"
• "Can't believe that she's already 41."

Eugene's Activities After 'Penthouse'

On the other hand, aside from being a "fairy" idol, Eugene is also widely known as a famous actress, notable for numerous dramas including the 2020-2021 SBS hit drama, "Penthouse." The series with 3 seasons is a global success and the idol actress was loved for her character, Oh Yoon Hee.

But since filming the drama, Eugene seems to be taking a break with her daughters as she had no other activities other than entertainment programs appearances last year.

In fact, the couple Ki Taeyoung and Eugene said on a broadcast that if one person is active, the other person should do the parenting and not borrow other people's hands to raise their two daughters.
