THIS 'Fantasy Boys' Idol Trainee Accused Of Faking Age: 'He's 26 but born in 2000?'

While THIS "Fantasy Boys" idol-trainee is one of the leading and most popular contestants in the show, people are slowly turning their backs on him after speculations that he faked his age.

He's 26? 00-Liner K-Soul Accused of Faking His Age

Aside from Mnet's "Boys Planet," another idol survival program is sending K-pop fans into a frenzy, which is MBC's "Fantasy Boys"!

The show premiered on March 30, and the contestants immediately captured the hearts of viewers with their respective charms, skills and personality.

Unfortunately, there are only 12 trainees who will be able to join the lineup for a new male idol; thus, viewers are all out in supporting their personal picks.

Among the participants who caught the eye of fans the most, K-Soul, currently stands in 7th place, based on the preliminary rankings revealed at the end of Episode 2 on April 7.

Su Er, also known as K-Soul, is a Chinese born in 2000. He is particularly loved for his talent and potential, not to mention his cheerful and playful personality that can make every viewer smile with just his vibrant presence.

Prior to dreaming of becoming a K-pop idol, he joined multiple survival shows in China and debuted as a former Mu Ji Shao Nian member.

As he became more popular, K-Soul is also drawing attention to his background.

Just then, eagle-eyed fans suddenly became skeptical about his honesty after accounts claimed that the trainee forged his age to join the show.

In particular, all this time, people were aware that he was born in 2000 as it was what was written in his Weibo and profile for "Fantasy Boys."

However, doubts rose after his birthdate in the aforementioned profile didn't match his profile when he joined the Chinese reality show, "We Are Young" in 2020.

Based on this, Su Er was born on October 19, 1998, making him supposedly 25 this year.

But if this isn't surprising enough, K-Soul was being exposed for faking his age, not only once but twice!

As mentioned, he joined various survival shows in the past, including "Star of Asia" and "Super Idol." In a past profile that was revealed when he was lesser known in the industry, K-Soul wrote that he's a 1997-liner, making him possibly 26.

But what made fans more skeptical about him was after reading that he entered the university in 2014. People stated that if he went to school this year, then he must be a 96-liner.

At this point, fans were only doubtful about his real age due to K-Soul's inconsistency when it comes to his profiles.

People Speculate Reason K-Soul Faked His Age

When K-Soul's age controversy broke out, fans were confused as to why he had to forge his birth year, when 26 is still considered young.

  • "Why would you lie about your age?"
  • "He's 26 but born in 2000?"
  • "He really looks like he's 22 or 23, but why should he lie about being born in 97/98?"

In response, people opened up about the unfortunate ageism in K-pop, where idols in their 30s are considered old.

In fact, trainees waiting to debut also have an age limit, which is 23 before, as others believe that fans would prefer idols with fresh and youthful images than the mature ones.

  • "There are a lot of trainees who were kicked out just because they are only 1 year older. (K-Soul probably lied about his age) because the 3-year gap is big."
  • "I can definitely feel the difference between a 2000-born idol and a 97-liner."
  • "So to sum it up, K-Soul was originally born in 1997 and he cheated first in 1998 and twice in 2000."
