7 Most Popular K-pop Groups For May 2023: BTS, BLACKPINK, More!

The Korean Business Research Institute has announced their May brand reputation rankings for all K-pop groups. According to the institute's report, the data was gathered from April 25 to May 25, and was derived from the groups' overall exposure.

Since most K-pop groups have released their own music and engaged with their own activities, this propelled them in the grasp of social media, where netizens and fans await their content.

Apart from their endeavors in the music industry, some idol groups also managed to steal the spotlight in other extracurriculars, may it be on an off-sched event, and other aspects that can lead to their virality.

Here are the 7 most popular K-pop groups for May 2023!

1.    BTS

BTS reigned the May rankings with a brand reputation index of 6,638,894. They have also gained 87.56 percent positive reactions for their positivity-negativity analysis.

2.    BLACKPINK

On the second place, BLACKPINK claimed No. 2 with a brand reputation index of 5,316,470. They also went viral for their performances at the ongoing world tour "BORN PINK," as well as the individual members' appearances in formal events such as 76th Cannes Film Festival and BVLGARI's Mediterranea Event.

3.    IVE

IVE claimed the No. 3 position after gaining a brand reputation index of 5,020,997 for May. IVE also released their first Japanese extended play "WAVE" on May 9, alongside with its title track of the same name.

SEVENTEEN earned a brand reputation index of 4,695,065 for the month of May. This result led them to claim the fourth place, after gaining an overwhelming 96.15 percent rise in their score.

5.    NewJeans

NewJeans completed the list's top five after collecting a brand reputation index of 4,063,240. This score is due to the members' activities in music, social events, social media exposure, and content, which keeps fandom Bunnies well-fed!

6.    aespa

The "Savage" singers earned a brand reputation index of 3,741,236. For many, May is definitely aespa's month since they came back with new music after a long time.

Apart from being active with their "Spicy" promotions, the quartet also attended Chopard's Art Gala at Cannes, and the 76th Cannes Film Festival. This May, aespa also became the first K-pop group in history to attend the film festival.
