THIS 'Underrated' 4th-Gen Idol is Finally Getting Recognition for Top Vocals – Here's Why

This idol used to be overlooked despite her top-notch singing skills. Recently, she covered one of IU's "hardest" songs and it earned her praises not only from K-pop fans but also fellow artists!

Can you guess who she is?

Cherry Bullet Bora Garners Recognition From Fellow Idols for Impressive Vocals Singing IU's 'My Sea'

After a recent performance, people agreed that Cherry Bullet Bora is one of the best K-pop vocalists among fourth-gen idols - so far.

In particular, following the prelude episode of Mnet's "Queendom Puzzle" on June 13, various K-pop fandoms in online forums and SNS raised the topic about Kim Bora, Cherry Bullet's main vocalist, who made her name familiar after joining idol survival show, "Girls Planet 999."

The reason she suddenly gained the attention of K-pop fans was after her spectacular performance during the "Up-Down Battle."

In this competition, the 28 participants were given the opportunity to "up" vote if they think the performer was better than them, and "down" vote if they were worse performers.

While the battle was heated by participants trying to weigh their skills and compare them to every performer, this idol decided to finish the challenge — and it was none other than Cherry Bullet Bora!

During her stage, Bora raised brows for taking the stage barefoot but once she started to reinterpret IU's "My Sea," the singer left most participants awestruck!

Watching her performance, Bora showcased her strong and stable live vocals that didn't waver even if she was doing a lot of dance movements!

In context, after IU released "My Sea" as a b-side of her album "LILAC" in March 2021, the song stole a lot of music fans' hearts more than the title track and selected it as one of the icon's masterpieces.

The song is also regarded as one of IU's hardest songs for its insane high notes.

Impressively, Bora reached the high notes and delivered the message perfectly, giving recognition not only from viewers but her fellow idols who were left speechless after her stage.

As a result, Bora received 25 upvotes out of 27, securing first place and the highest score in the up-down battle so far.

People Show Admiration To Cherry Bullet Bora's Top Singing Skills

Following the episode, the idol also made a buzz among K-pop fans and netizens who watched her performance. Music fans showed interest in her, highlighting how Bora isn't regarded as one of the best main vocalists among fourth-gen idols yet despite her crazy ability.

People were commenting as well on how new fans would emphasize the importance of stable live singing and mention a lot of top stars such as aespa NingNing, NMIXX Lily and more – but would barely put Bora's name on the list.

On her official performance video, viewers then left rave reviews such as:

  • "She is a talented person who will be coveted in the musical field. Look at her ratio, voice, facial expression, and dancing, it was all good. You're good at performing."
  • "This is seriously the best stage. I'm hoping to see you on the musical stage."
  • "Bora main vocalist supremacy!"
  • "I am a UAENA (IU's fandom) and I can tell that you did give justice to her song! One of my favorite covers so far!"
  • "Isn't she an undiscovered gem? She has a top voice, great dancing, lovely visuals and a likable personality. FNC Entertainment, do something."
