SM Entertainment is heralding a debut of a new boy group, which will also become the last unit of its large-scale global group, NCT.

What is 'NCT Universe: LASTART'?

"NCT Universe: LASTART" is a pre-debut reality and audition program that will introduce NCT's new unit and join the NCT Universe following NCT 127, NCT Dream, NCT U, and WayV.

This is also one of the three new teams that will start the era of "SM 3.0," which will drift away from the company's old K-pop system.

The program name, "LASTART," is an amalgamation of the words, LAST and START, which means the end of NCT's infinite expansion and the start of a new team of SM Entertainment.

NCT's new team's pre-debut audition show will premiere on July 27 and it will be aired in Korea, Japan and the United States.

In Korea, it will be broadcast via channels, ENA and TVing, while it will be released on Huli and Nihon TV channels in Japan.

For viewers from Central and South America, it will be available on KOCOWA+. Detailed information on the program will be released sequentially.

For other OTT platforms where fans from other countries can watch NCT Universe: LASTART, SMTOWN is yet to release more information.

Following the news, the pre-debut reality program has been garnering attention from K-pop fans and NCTzens (NCT fandom), given that the concept will not only introduce NCT's new unit.

It will also provide a glimpse of SM Entertainment's process of selecting new group members, which has not been disclosed before.

In a teaser video of "NCT Universe: LASTART," the prospective members were shown after a fierce practice process and the tension was evident.

The trainees' silhouettes stimulated many people's curiosity, while in the second half of the clip, the highlights of the stage and the voices of the trainees were heard, creating high anticipation.

According to SM, the new NCT unit will be comprised of 6 members; thus, among the 10 trainees who will be seen in the show doing various missions, only four will be selected as debuting members.

The four final members will join the SMROOKIES Yushi and Sion, which were introduced ahead of the show.
