ITZY Chaeryeong Shocks with Her Candid Pick: Which Entertainment Giant Stole Her Heart?

In an unexpected turn of events, ITZY's Chaeryeong has revealed her preference between two of K-pop's biggest entertainment companies: SM Entertainment and JYP Entertainment.

Chaeryeong's Discussion on her Experiences and Audition Journey

Appearing on JTBC's talk show Dangpo alongside veteran girl group idols Roo'ra's Chae Rina, Brown Eyed Girls' Narsha, and 2NE1's Sandara Park, Chaeryeong engaged in a candid discussion about her experiences as a member of ITZY.

During the lively conversation, hosts Tak Jae Hoon, Yoon Jong Shin, and Hong Jin Kyung probed Chaeryeong about whether there were any other girl groups she aspired to be a part of, aside from ITZY. The young idol responded in a quintessential "idol-like" manner, asserting that she couldn't envision herself in any other group.

It was then revealed that prior to auditioning for her current company, JYP Entertainment, Chaeryeong had initially tried out for SM Entertainment. This revelation prompted Yoon Jong Shin to tease her, humorously suggesting she could have been a member of SM's successful girl group aespa. However, Chaeryeong shared that she didn't pass the audition with SM Entertainment.

Chaeryeong Confessed Which Entertainment Stole Her Heart

Playfully prodding further, Yoon Jong Shin asked if her preference for JYP was perhaps a way of getting back at SM Entertainment for rejecting her in the past. Chaeryeong honestly confessed, "Actually, I still like SM," emphasizing her affection for the company. Nevertheless, she also made it clear that she held a deep fondness for JYP Entertainment.

The pivotal moment arrived when the hosts posed the classic question:

"If you were accepted into both SM and JYP at the same time, which company would you choose?"

After a thoughtful pause, Chaeryeong mustered the courage to reveal her answer, stating:

"For me... I think I would have chosen SM Entertainment."

The studio erupted in laughter, appreciating her candor and acknowledging her genuine admiration for SM. They concluded that fate had ultimately led her to JYP Entertainment, where she found her place with ITZY.

Chaeryeong's journey in the K-pop industry began when she and her sister Lee Chaeyeon appeared on the audition program K-Pop Star.

Though she didn't debut at the time, she later participated in Sixteen, an audition program that selected the members of TWICE. Despite not making the cut, her determination paid off in 2019 when she finally debuted as a proud member of ITZY.

As fans imagine an alternate reality where Chaeryeong could have been part of an SM Entertainment girl group, they celebrate her current success with ITZY and admire her unwavering honesty on the talk show.
