Sunmi Gets Candid Over Regret & Apology to Wonder Girls'—Sorry for Suffering on My Behalf...'

Renowned singer Sunmi has recently garnered attention for reflecting on her tenure as a member of the iconic group Wonder Girls.

The revelation unfolded during an appearance on the YouTube channel 'Pisik University,' where Sunmi featured as a guest in a video titled 'Continuously Asking Sunmi,' posted on the 15th.

During the interview, Sunmi, displaying her fluent English skills, shared updates on the current status of her former Wonder Girls bandmates.

"I still maintain strong connections with the Wonder Girls members. Sunye and Hyerim are now married, and Yubin has ventured into business. Sohee, Yeeun, and I remain single," Sunmi disclosed.

Addressing her time working in the United States, Sunmi recollected a past interview where she received advice about leaving for a distant location at the end of 2008.

"At that time, JYP had a grand vision, akin to yours. We collectively agreed, leading to our journey to America. As the opening act for the Jonas Brothers, I had the opportunity to tour various cities," Sunmi explained.

Reflecting on her decision to take a break during that period, Sunmi confessed, "I believed I needed a hiatus. Consequently, I returned to Korea, dedicating myself to rigorous study.

Originally intending a brief respite followed by a return to Wonder Girls, I debuted as a solo artist with 'Full Moon' and later rejoined the group. That's how my journey unfolded."

Expressing remorse, Sunmi apologized to her Wonder Girls colleagues, acknowledging their dedicated efforts on her behalf.

"Our members worked tirelessly for me, and I feel a deep sense of regret for that," she expressed.

Wonder Girls, after debuting in February 2007 with 'Irony,' became a national girl group with consecutive hits like 'Tell Me,' 'So Hot,' and 'Nobody.'

In 2008, they entered the US market and achieved a notable ranking of 76th on the 'HOT 100' main single chart with 'Nobody.' Following their official disbandment in 2017, Sunmi has pursued a successful solo career.
