On November 12, aespa Giselle sparked a debate in the online community Instiz after a netter posted an article about the idol titled, "How did aespa Giselle become so white?"

In the post, Giselle's photo was attached where she flaunted her porcelain skin, free from blemishes or any dark spots. She also featured her clear and smooth face with minimal use of cosmetic products.

The OP continued to wonder how the members especially Giselle made her skin fairer.

"Karina is similar to Giselle, they started with having a normal fair skin tone but now, their skin color totally changed and they're completely porcelain.

I'm curious about the secret."

When the photo spread, Giselle received praise for her stunning appearance.

But some speculated Giselle did the reverse tanning (also known as white tanning), which is a craze in South Korea. This procedure and treatment aims to restore the body's collagen to make the skin lighter.

Contrary to the usual tanning where one uses UV rays to increase melanin production, reverse/white tanning uses infrared light to make the skin fairer.

Meanwhile, fans claimed that the change in her skin tone was most likely due to her recent styling and new blonde hair. People also pointed out that the hair color suits Giselle best since it makes her beauty glow.

In addition to this, some fans claimed that it was her natural color, not white tanning, though it was just emphasized due to the change in style and the lighting when the photo was taken.
