VIVIZ, a trio comprised of former GFRIEND members, is creating their second "heyday" as their song, "MANIAC," continues to climb up the music charts.

While some idols are burdened by the "dance challenge" culture in K-pop, this trend is actually a blessing and effective marketing strategy for most!

Recently, EXO not only ranked #1 at MelOn Top 100 thanks to their viral 10-year-old song, "First Snow," and its dance challenge, but they also achieved a real-time all-kill (RAK) for topping the four major music charts (MelOn, Bugs, Genie, and Flo)!

Just then, VIVIZ's "MANIAC," released in November, is belatedly rising in the music charts as well due to its popular choreography trend!

VIVIZ 'MANIAC' Debuts on MelOn Top 100

First unveiled on November 2, "MANIAC" is the title track of VIVIZ's fourth mini-album, "VERSUS." The song received decent success, but it wasn't able to stand out due to the tight competition against IVE, aespa, and LESSERAFIM at the time.

Despite this, VIVIZ continued to promote the song on various online platforms, especially on TikTok. While doing the so-called "MANIAC" challenge, it became popular among idol fans, who realized the song was pretty addictive and good.

Amid the challenge craze, it soared to 400 notches in a month from ranking below 500. Starting on December 14, it ranked 126th on the MelOn Daily chart.

The song saw an increase in the number of unique listeners by up to 2k up to 8 per day on MelOn.

Since then, "MANIAC" also re-entered the real-time charts of Genie and Bugs, and remains in the top 30 on the Melon Hot 100 chart.

On Dec. 20, the song debuted in the MelOn Top 100 after ranking #99, the first time after its release last month. As of the 22nd, it sat at #98, with fans anticipating a continuous rise.

What is VIVIZ's 'MANIAC' Dance Challenge About?

In particular, the song, "MANIAC" features addictive melodies and sensuous lyrics of love that hurt each other.

Kany, a famous overseas choreographer, is receiving favorable reviews for creating high-quality dance and addictive killing parts that led to the viral dance challenge.

Fans and TikTok users were particularly mesmerized by the so-called "butt dance" killing part wherein the members shake and pop their butts and hips.

When the video of the trio comprised SinB, Eunha and Umji blew up, numerous fans and idols also followed the trend which caused them to belatedly rise in the ranking of the music source.

Currently, attention is being paid to how far the "Maniac" momentum will continue.
