8 K-pop Artists Who Left Their Agencies In 2024 So Far: SHINee Taemin, GOT7 Youngjae, More

Leaving an agency is a normal occurrence for K-pop artists, as it could also help them discover more of their potential and explore opportunities in various fields. From January to April 2024, numerous artists have ended their contracts with their former agencies.

Here are 8 K-pop artists who have parted ways with their companies!

1.    SHINee Taemin

In March, Taemin's exclusive contract with longtime agency SM Entertainment expired. This expiration and his departure wrapped his 16-year journey with the company.

Currently, Taemin is now signed to his new home Big Planet Made Entertainment, which is home to artists such as VIVIZ, BE'O, Lee Mujin, and many more.

2.    SHINee Onew

Just like his bandmate Taemin, Onew decided not to renew his contract with SM Entertainment. Onew then signed an exclusive contract with GRIFFIN Entertainment on April 3, when the agency welcomed the idol to the company and expressed enthusiasm with his inclusion.

While Taemin and Onew will continue their solo activities in different agencies, they will still do group activities with SHINee under SM. Meanwhile, members Key and Minho renewed their contracts with SM Entertainment.

3.    GOT7 Youngjae

Youngjae joined Sublime Artist Agency on January 20, 2021, after his contract with agency JYP Entertainment had ended. However, on April 2, the idol left Sublime after his contract expired.

"We would like to express our gratitude to the fans who have been with us and Youngjae during his journey," Sublime stated. "We ask for your continued support for Youngjae's new start."

4.    Davichi

Davichi parted ways with WAKEONE after 10 years. The company released a statement on its official site and expressed its thanks to Davichi. The exit was also accompanied by Davichi's newest single "I'll be by your side" on March 26.

5.    VAV

In February, VAV members left their longtime agency Ateam due to their contract expiration. The group debuted under the company in 2015. According to the announcement, Ateam would continue to support VAV through their solo activities.

6.    Sam Kim

Soloist Sam Kim left his longtime agency Antenna after 10 years. In the statement, the agency shared how much they treasure their time with the singer, and that they will support his future endeavors as a singer.

Afterwards, Sam Kim took his thoughts to social media and conveyed his gratitude to Antenna.

7.    The Wind Shin Jaewon

Earlier in December 2023, The Wind leader Shin Jaewon, shocked K-pop fans with his departure from the group due to personal circumstances. This was followed by his departure from the company With Us Entertainment on February 28.

8.    Jessi
