DAWN shared that he has let go of his once "flashy" fashion style after his breakup with fellow soloist HyunA, saying the bold looks no longer felt true to who he is.
In a recent appearance on actress Gong Hyo Jin's YouTube channel, DAWN opened up about how his style has changed in the years since their high-profile relationship ended in 2022. He explained that during the height of their romance, he was deeply into fashion and drawn to eye‑catching outfits that other people would not usually wear.
At that time, the couple was known for coordinated looks, including matching hair colors, bleached eyebrows, and eclectic styling that often sparked online discussion, according to Koreaboo.
DAWN admitted that he now sees that phase as not fully matching his real personality. He said he realized he was "pretending to be someone" he was not, which led him to step back and look inward instead of chasing more extreme clothes.
As a result, he has largely stopped shopping for fashion items and no longer tries to stand out with experimental outfits, such as skirts and custom-made thigh‑high boots that he wore in the past.

This simpler approach matches his current lifestyle, which he has previously described as centered on enjoying being alone and valuing personal space after the breakup.
DAWN and HyunA confirmed their split in November 2022 after six years together, saying they would remain good friends and colleagues. Since then, fans have closely watched his visual transformation, noting a move toward darker, more understated styling around the release of his project "Narcissus" and after his military service.
