Michelle Trachtenberg Will Play Marina Oswald in 'Killing Kennedy'; Joins Rob Lowe in Upcoming National Geographic Adaptation of Bill O'Reilly Book

Michelle Trachtenberg, who played Sarah Michelle Gellar's little sister who may have been imaginary, in "Buffy The Vampire Slayer," has been cast as Marina Oswald in National Geographic Channel's "Killing Kennedy," the upcoming TV movie about the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. "Killing Kennedy" is is slated to debut in November 2013 to coincide with the fiftieth anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

This is the first time Michelle Trachtenberg will act in a Russian-speaking role. 

In a statement, National Geographic Channels President Howard T. "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" star Michelle Trachtenberg will play Marina Oswald in National Geographic's "Killing Kennedy.

Michelle Trachtenberg joins Rob Lowe, who will be playing President Kennedy. Will Rothhaar will play Lee Harvey Oswald, Marina Oswald's husband who was a former marine, Cuban protestor and eventual presidential assassin. Ginnifer Goodwin, from the TV fairy tale series "Once Upon a Time," will play Jackie Kennedy, the president's wife. Jack Noseworthy will play Robert F. Kennedy, JFK's brother, who was a trusted aide to the president. Mary Pat Gleason will play Oswald's mother, Marguerite. Francis Guinan will play Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson. Boris McGiver plays FBI agent John Fain.

"Killing Kennedy" is based on Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard's book of the same name. It is something of a follow-up to "Killing Lincoln," which National Geographic Channel also adapted from a Bill O'Reilly/Martin Dugard book. The movie follows Kennedy and Oswald from 1959, when Kennedy announced his bid for president and Oswald renounced his U.S. citizenship, through the assassination in 1963.

The movie is currently in production in Richmond, Virginia.
