All Styles and Genres Rank in Top 10 on Music Charts

Over the diversification and progress of K-pop over the past decade, K-pop music charts have become increasingly more eclectic in genre and style. But until recently, the top 10 songs were still easily generalized in a few words, such as 'idols and rappers.'

Well, times have changed. Of course, it is for the better.

Currently, some of the songs that are competing for the top spot on various music charts are Sistar's "Give It To Me," Outsider's "Crying Bird," Lee Seung Chul's "My Love," Roy Kim's "Love Love Love," Kim Ye-rim's "All Right," Verbal Jint's "Walking in the Rain," 4men's "Only You," and Girl's Day's "Female President."

That list includes hip hop, R&B dance, pop rock, folk, country, funky disco and dance.

The music industry is welcoming the progress of diverse music that is besting itself due to the efforts of musicians who believed in their own genre and style. Shinhwa's Lee Minwoo commented, "K-pop industry is booming again as many different styled songs are pouring in."

Another associate in the industry stated, "There used to be a cut-and-dry formula that outlined the route to success in K-pop. But not so anymore. Many people's perspectives have opened up. They now think that as long as the music is high quality, the public will respond positively. I believe it is a healthy direction we are headed toward."
