4minute released a new song "Is It Poppin?" on June 28.

Going against the tide of over-the-top sexy lyrics and performances that are dominating K-pop at the moment, 4minute put forth a worried girlfriend instead.

Although the title initially suggests it, the song is not about a clubber's sensual moves around the dance floor. The song is about a girlfriend who can't get in touch with her boyfriend who is at a club. Hence, she asks "Is it poppin?"

Multiple lines such as "You say you love me but why don't you get me," "Is it poppin? Do you like it that much?" and "Don't you worry about me waiting for you?" portray a disheartened girlfriend's monologue.

Despite the overall sad lyrics, the fast tempo hip hop song is an upbeat, fun listen. The best part of the song is that it definitely sounds like 4minute but is somewhat different from their previous songs.

4minute will stage their first TV performance of "Is It Poppin?" on June 30 on 'Inkygayo.'
