IU's 'Forgotten Season' Receives Praise From Composer Lee Yong

IU showed off her skills as a singer on KBS 2TV's weekend series 'You're the Best, Lee Soon-shin,' in the episode aired on the 30th.

In the episode, Soon-shin auditions for the role of an aspiring singer. However, she almost loses the audition due to Choe Yeona (Kim Yun-Seo)'s interference. Furthermore, the other judges look down on her, suspicious that she is using her connection as the daughter of Song Mi-Ryong (Lee Mi-Sook).

Lee Soon-shin then pulls herself together and sings her father Lee Chang Hoon's (Yun Dong-Hwan) favorite song, 'Forgotten Season,' with a guitar accompaniment.

Her appealing voice and a sensibility beyond her age surprises the director as well as Choe Yeona. Viewers tuning in were also swept away.

Composer Lee Yong didn't hide his praise for IU.

On an interview conducted on the 1st, Lee Yong said that "To be honest I don't watch the show very often so I didn't see it when it aired, but yesterday (June 30th) I was surprised when all my friends started texting me and I found out it was because IU sang 'Forgotten Season' on the show."

Lee continued, "Afterwards I looked up a video of IU singing. Usually men sing in the key of C, women in F or G, but IU sang at a lower E flat. I knew of her excellent singing talent but I think she sang in a lower key on purpose to fit the mellow mood of the scene. She really did a great job and made it unique."

Regarding his high priase, netizens had this to say: "Lee Yong praises IU, she must feel great to receive praise from the composer," "Lee Yong praises IU, what a great deal. Receiving praise from the composer," "Lee Yong priases IU, not only did the viewers enjoy it but the composer as well," "Lee Yong priases IU, I should listen to the original song," "Lee Yong praises IU, it really was a great performance," etc.
