Review: Dynamic Duo Scores Once More With The Funky Slow Jam 'Hot Wings' Featuring Hyolyn Of SISTAR [AUDIO]

There are many critical elements that go into crafting a good slow jam.

The beat has to be funky but not too bombastic. The vocals have to be smooth enough not to dispel the vibe, but also need that indescribable ability to get take the party to someplace epic.

If the slow jam happens to have a rap (as most of them do) the rapping can't get too groovy, lest it move into silly, P.M. Dawn territory. But the situation usually doesn't call for the most brutal gangsta rap either.

Dynamic Duo's new single "Hot Wings" featuring Hyolyn Of SISTAR, which debuted at number 22 this week on the Billboard K-Pop Hot 100, delivers on all fronts.

Offering both the hard and soft edges required of any epic slow jam, band members Choiza and Gaeko have done it again.

Following up the success of their 70s dance floor pile driver "BAAAM," the Dynamic Duo has demonstrated considerable range in the studio.

Where "BAAAM" is a no-holds-barred ass shaker, the band shows their ability to deliver the reverse on "Hot Wings."

While the song still moves, it moves at half the speed, not a bad soundtrack for when the summer heat and humidity has done the same to you.

And while no music review would be complete without the ubiquitous comparisons to other artists, it is worth mentioning the undeniable master of the slow jam, R. Kelly.

While it is possible that it is a completely unintentional, the "Hot Wings" has the feel of some of R. Kelly's greatest songs, (many of which also refer to memorable scenes in hotels as any fan can attest).

But beyond any similarities in production or even songwriting, there is a lesson the men of Dynamic Duo appear to have learned along the way that R. Kelly knows as well as anyone: you can rock the party just as hard slow as you can rock it fast.

And while there are some impressive Dynamic Duo songs that feature the high-energy, fast-tempo grooves the band is known for, there could be even more untapped potential lying there in wait for the band to discover, at half the beats per minute.
