A bigger and better KCON 2013 has officially kicked-off its ticket sales period.  And, within hours of the box office opening, VIP1 tickets (valued at $300) have all been sold out.  Scheduled to be held on August 24th and 25th at the LA Sports Arena, the annual K-pop convention in the United States boasts of an action-packed event replete with artist panels, fan engagement and interaction and M! Countdown's first show in the USA.

Days prior to the ticket sales period, MNET America, organizer of KCON 2013 staggered the announcement of artists who will grace the stage.  The first artist announced was EXO, who just recently had their comeback in Korea.  The first ever KCON in 2012 welcomed EXO-M, wherein fans of EXO showed their huge support and enthusiasm for the group via the artist fan meeting and fan sign, as well as their performance in the show that capped last year's convention.  Now, the group will be complete with both EXO-K and EXO-M participating. 

The 2nd group to be announced was ballad group 2AM, who are also most anticipated by US K-pop fans.  On the day of ticket sales, the participation of Teen Top was confirmed.  So, with only 3 artists revealed in the line-up and VIP1 tickets already sold out, and remaining tickets at limited quantities, K-pop is proven yet again to be garnering huge interest in the United States, and KCON regarded as a prime event to get that K-pop fix.

Bekah, formerly of After School, is also confirmed to be sitting in an artist panel.  Other artist/celebrities who will participate are yet to be announced.

Today, a girl group was added to the line-up, with f(x) now also included.

MNET America is doing really well with providing information to the fans, also opening up the LA Sports Arena box office early on Monday for fans who wanted to get their tickets in person. 

KCON 2013 is meant to be a tribute to K-pop fans too, as one of the planned segments of the 2-day convention is #myKpop, which will tell the story of 6 K-pop fans in a reality TV setting.  The sign-up round is ongoing until July 19th.  Fans who are interested in joining are encouraged to apply!
