Amanda Bynes Mental Illness Update [VIDEO]: Conservatorship To Treat Schizophrenia Symptoms, Hospital Stay Extended 30 Days

Amanda Bynes' symptoms of mental illness and schizophrenia has lead to her 5150 involuntary hospitalization, and now a conservatorship by her mother.

A judge ruled Friday that Richard and Lynn Bynes should be allowed limited control of their 27-year-old daughter's personal affairs, including medical treatment and finances.

A mental health court currently has control over Bynes' medical treatment, but if she is released from a psychiatric facility then her mother will have authority to decide treatment for mental illness and schizophrenia symptoms.

Amanda Bynes displayed a lot of erratic behavior before her conservatorship for mental illness, including a string of insulting Twitter missives and strange wigs.  She once was a famous Nickelodeon child star.

Kpopstarz recently reported:

Amanda Bynes has been worrying everyone with possible mental illness and schizophrenia symptoms.  She has also allegedly been smoking weed, which shares a complex link with mental illness.

Bynes was arrested and briefly held after cops claimed she had dropped a glass bong out of her apartment.  She allegedly smoked marijuana at her gym.  Neighbors allegedly claimed that there was a lot of weed smoke possibly coming from Amanda's apartment.

Amanda Bynes has recently been put on a 5150 involuntary hospitalization hold due to her erratic behavior of lighting a fire on a neighbor's driveway.  She is reportedly being treated for possible schizophrenia symptoms.

Schizophrenia symptoms such as psychosis, hallucinations and negative symptoms share a link with the drug marijuana, but it is not straightforward according to Maia Svalavitz of Time Magazine.  Svalavitz cites a study that shows a compound in weed, CBD or cannabidiol, can actually treat schizophrenia symptoms.

Many people with schizophrenia choose to use the drug marijuana.  Scientists have not been able to discover whether weed has  a causal effect in schizophrenia, or whether it is merely linked.  Many people suffering from schizophrenia use the drug weed to self-medicate rather than using pharmaceutical options.  CBD has none of the side-effects of conventional pharmaceutical options, which can include extrapyramidal symptoms like tardive dyskensia.

However, high levels of THC in weed may have possible deleterious effects, so smoking it may not be such a good idea as compared to the pure pharmaceutical compound.

The experience of voices is one symptom of schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder.  Delusions are also a symptom of schizophrenia.  Delusions and voices can make it difficult to understand people with schizophrenia, but some psychologists say that delusions can reflect aspects of a person's reality.  Amanda Bynes has certainly lived in an alternate reality due to Hollywood.  The feeling of having ones' mind read may seem less crazy when you consider the world is watching Amanda Bynes' behavior.

People with schizophrenia symptoms often have trouble with normal tasks of daily living.  They tend to withdraw from social life and often have difficult relationships with family.  They may have blunted and inappropriate seeming emotional responses.  They deal with an enormous stigma related to their diagnosis, which can prevent them from integration with society.
