The toughest thing about the entertainment industry is that no matter how talented you are, it still comes down to what you look like. Looks are unfortunately a huge part of the business and if you don't cut it in the looks department in Korea, chances are they'll either reject you or convince you to get surgery on your "troubled" areas. Our world is shallow, what can you do? There's been a handful of K-pop artists who have come out and openly admitted to being rejected by entertainment industries for not being pretty enough to make it. Let's take a look at those who underwent hardship because they didn't have the cookie-cutter beauty agencies wanted.

Solo singer Younha claimed she underwent as many as 20 auditions until she was finally picked up. Many companies refused to sign her to their agencies because they didn't think she wasn't pretty enough to make it. Although labels knew she had talent, at the end of the day they didn't believe Younha's face could make it in the business and passed on her until one audition changed her life. Guess Younha got the last laugh.

Solo singer Lyn said that when she first debuted in the industry, many agencies were turned off by her looks and refused to sign her until she got work done. Lyn, who has openly admitted to getting plastic surgery, has since made a name and successful career for herself. Ugly, pretty, plastic or not plastic, Lyn's got a beautiful light voice and that's what I look for in an artist.

2NE1's CL's looks didn't affect her acceptance into YG but the "Baddest Female" admitted on "Strong Heart" that her boss-man and CEO of YG, Yang Hyun Suk once hurt the rapper's feeling when he told that she was ugly. She said this about Mr. Yang:

"He bluntly tells me that I'm ugly. CEO Yang once visited us while we were rehearsing for our concert. I didn't have any makeup on at that time and when he saw me, he told me 'You're very ugly'," she explained.

But good for CL for never undergoing the knife and sticking to your God given looks and making it big!
