YG CEO Yang Hyun Suk Says The Songwriting Talents Of The 'WIN: Who Is Next?' Cast Have Been The Show's Most Pleasant Surprise

YG Entertainment founder and CEO Yang Hyun Suk always said his goal with "WIN: Who Is Next?," a reality show produced by the record label, was to let the audience pick their next boy band through a series of competitions between the two groups, Team A and Team B.

What he didn't expect was to discover was the depth of songwriting talent from contestants on both teams.

Song Min Ho, Kang Seung Yoon and Nam Tae Hyun from Team A along with Bobby and B.I from Team B have all composed songs for the show, a development that the YG CEO feels is the best thing to come out of the contest.

"I am over the moon as I was able to discover the composing skills of these trainees," Yang said on Friday's episode of the show.

"The biggest fruit borne on this show is the discovery of the members' talents and their composing skills."

The record label mogul told viewers that have been following "WIN: Who Is Next?" since the season began back in August, that they should notice substantial artistic development among the members of both teams.

"The viewers will soon see how much the members have improved since the first and second rounds of battle," Yang said.

The week "WIN: Who Is Next" premiered, a representative for CJ E&M, the South Korean entertainment conglomerate that owns the cable stations Mnet and tvN that the show airs on, promised that there wouldn't be the kind of deceptive or so-called "evil" editing as employed on singing competitions like "Superstar K," in a press release on the YG Entertainment website YGLife.com

"The program will be aired through us, but 'WIN' is created by YG. So of course the entertainment agency holds the editing rights," the CJ E&M rep said.

YG Entertainment also released a statement assuring fans they would do there best to edit "WIN: Who Is Next" in a way that most honestly conveyed what happened on the show.

"Issues related to editing right is very sensitive," the YG statement read. "We will be cooperating with CJ E&M, but there will be no artificial editing added to the show."
