Final Fantasy X, X-2 HD Remaster American Release Date Announced: Will March Launch Affect Final Fantasy XV?

As Square Enix prepares a host of releases this winter and next spring, the North American and European release date for Final Fantasy X and X-2 HD Remaster has been announced.

According to Kotaku, Final Fantasy X and X-2 HD Remaster will be released March 18 in North America, while the release date for Europe is March 21.

As of now, the release date in Japan remains late December.

What is intriguing is that the release dates solely allude to the PS3 edition of both Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2, and not the Vita version. This could mean that the two remasters could be released at different times.

But given the March release of this big launch, one concern is the potential affect it could have with another Square Enix title, Final Fantasy XV.

According to Gaming Bolt, a recent Square Enix financial results briefing session, Final Fantasy XV is not expected to have a release date earlier than March of 2014.

Some titles that are expected to release before Final Fantasy XV include Call of Duty: Ghosts, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, Dragon Quest X, Drag-on Dragoon 2, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster, Dragon Quest Monsters 2, and Thief.

However, if Final Fantasy X and X-2 HD Remaster is being released in March, then the chances of Final Fantasy XV releasing in that same period is highly unlikely.
