iMac 2013 27-inch review: Specs of the 2013 Apple laptop reviewed for it’s design and user experience features a 27-inch desktop powered by Haswell 4th generation core processors with NVIDIA’s GeForce 700 Series graphics. It has a 27-inch IPS display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440.

Other specs of the unit reviewed are: 1TB Hard Drive, 8 GB of 1,600 MHz DDR3 SDRAM with a 802.11ac Wi-Fi and 10/100/1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet (RJ-45 connector). The software in the unit is Apple’s latest Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks.

Prior the release of the iMac 2013, it’s previous model has already been praised for the immense design and user experience it can deliver. Overall, the look of the new iMac 2013 is not much different than its predecessor, but under the hood and on boot up, the difference can be experienced.

Resolution for the 27-inch Apple unit reviewed enables the user to have a lot of on-screen real estate. The monitor is one of the best looking around with a black bezel framing the viewable area. Underneath is an aluminum strip with Apple’s logo at the center. The strip, as Hot Hardware explains, hides the built-in stereo speakers and houses the integrated 802.11 ac WiFi and Bluetooth functionality.

Stereo speakers for the 27-inch iMac reviewed put out a decent number of volume and much higher quality than you’ll find in most all-in-one systems. The speakers in the iMac 2013 enhances user experience and is well-integrated to the all-in-one machine.

The FaceTime HD camera in this iMac is flanked by dual microphones and an ambient light sensor. The dual mics in this computer use beam-forming technology for clearer dictation and also to reduce background noise.

The bottom of the iMac features a series of connectivity options like a headphone jack, SD card slot and SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports, two Thunderbolt ports and a gigabit Ethernet port. The power cord of the iMac plus right into the center of the machine’s backside and the cable can be routed through a circular cutout in the stand.

Overall, the design of the new iMac shows that though power is definitely enhanced in this unit, form wasn’t ignored at all. The iMac has a well thought out hardware that makes it an aesthetically pleasing unit and not eye sore.
