Mike Tyson Says He Was Hypnotized to Be a Ferocious Fighter; `My Objective Was To Destroy’

Mike Tyson says he was hypnotized to be more aggressive in the ring. The retired boxer told Britain's Daily Telegraph that a professional hypnotist was brought in before his fights to make sure Mike Tyson was as ferocious as he could be in the ring.

It seems Mike was a little too sensitive in the ring. Cus D'Amato, Tyson's manager, brought in a hypnotist. Mike would work with the hypnotist several times a day.

Tyson says, "Cus used to have me professionally hypnotised two or three times a day - before sparring, before training and before fights. My objective was to destroy."

The boxer, who has become as well known for his troubles off the ring as in the ring, says he didn't regret the ferocity he battered his opponents with. Tyson said "No, because Cus didn't like me to be sensitive like that. He wanted me to be emotionless. He said feelings mean nothing. Feelings have nothing to do with your life. The only thing feelings do is distract you."

Mike Tyson was undisputed world heavyweight champion by the time he was 20 years old. Mike Tyson won his first 19 fights by knockout. He bit Evander Holyfield's ear in a match. He when he was jailed for rape. He's making a comeback, but he's not putting on the gloves. You can see his Spike Lee directed one-man show on HBO.
