The 3-10 Nets vs 6-7 Raptors will be the first of four meetings this season between division-foes. Brooklyn has dropped five in a row in what has been a disappointed start to the tenure of Jason Kidd as the head coach and after the big trades during the offseason. Brooklyn will be facing a Toronto team that has won two in a row in what has been a surprisingly better season for the Raptors with victories vs the Wizards and 76ers recently. The Nets are rattled with injuries, but still can't find a win, especially on the road. They are 1-7 away from the Barclays Center.

The trade that brought in Jason Terry (injured), Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett isn't panning out the way the franchise hoped thus far. Pierce is averaging 13.0 and 37.9 percent shooting -- both the lowest marks of his career -- while Garnett is scoring 6.5 points per game, also a career low.

"It's tough when -- look at the record, 3-10, 3-11, whatever our record is -- and know we've dug ourselves quite a big hole, no matter if we've got the injuries or not," Pierce told ESPN.com. "We still feel like we're talented enough to win these type of games."

Brooklyn will be without Deron Williams as well due to his hurt ankles.

Rudy Gay has adopted to the star role in Toronto this season. He had 17 points in the victory Friday over the Wizards and is averaging 20 PPG this season.

"He's our star player," coach Dwane Casey said of Gay, who had 11 points in the fourth quarter. "So he's going to have a lot of roles: leader, point forward, rebounder, defender. He's our guy, and we're going to have to roll with it."
