Kobe Bryant Uses Instagram To Refute Criticism On Contract Extension And Accusations That Mamba Cares About Money More Than Winning

Kobe Bryant signed a contract extension that will ensure his stature as the highest paid player in the NBA. Critics say he's not worth it.

"The Black Mamba" is already 35 years old and he's not even playing right now. Kobe has a torn Achilles and he is still recovering. He has not yet played a game this season but he is set to bankroll over $30 million.

While his extension is actually a pay cut, most critics are saying he should have signed on for a lower amount. It's not so much about his waning skills or how his injury has hampered his game since we will not be able to see that yet, it's about his priorities.

Bryant is known as a competitive player and his goal was to win another championship before he retires. To do that, the Lakers must rebuild and give him another superstar to team up with. In this era where the Miami Heat's Big Three has set the standard, having one superstar is not enough to get you over the hump.

In Kobe's instagram account, one commenter shared:

"Loyalty only to his bank account! Should have taken pay cut to bring in talent if he really cared about winning legacy."

This is in reference to Kobe not taking a more significant pay cut so the Lakers can sign two maximum salary players. Apparently, they were expecting Kobe to take the veterans minimum pay.

Kobe's response was deleted from the feed, but Lakers Nation saved a screenshot. It read:

"U obviously can't count. Or can't read. Let's try this again. The offer presented to me by the lakers ensures the ability to bring in max talent." (sic)

Kobe has mentioned that he was offered the contract of 2 years, $48.5 million and no negotiations took place. The Lakers management is pleased with the development, stating that keeping Bryant was top priority.
