In recent Michelle Obama news, the First Lady shares how she spends Christmas with her family.

In the December/January issue of Ladies' Home Journal, President Obama's wife divulges how she makes Christmas a merry one.

With the title "Christmas at the White House," the cover feature of the publication reveals how the first family spends the glorious holiday.

According to Mrs. Obama, Christmas is nothing without a perfect soundtrack.

"The sounds of Christmas in the Obama White House mean James Taylor, Mariah Carey and Nat King Cole," said the 49-year-old.

The First Lady admitted that her daughters Malia and Sasha make fun of her music choices.

"The kids tease me that they know it's Christmas when I pull out my playlist," she said. "The family's holiday tunes usually play as President Obama and the family decorate their tree, with the smell of eggnog and cookies wafting throughout the rooms."

Despite not growing up in the lap of luxury, Mrs. Obama shared that her mom would always make Christmas a spectacular occasion.

"Christmas has always been a special time in my household," she said. "Growing up, we lived in a little-bitty apartment, but my mom put her heart and soul into decorating that house."

Her youngest daughter Sasha, age 12, always tends to lend a hand when it comes to the cooking.

"Sasha is our big cookie maker," Mrs. Obama said. "It's one of the major activities the girls do when they have friends over."

Besides listening to seasonal music and stuffing their faces, the Obama family use Christmas time to show off their talents.

"I've hula-hooped, done a dog trick with Bo and read poems," the First Lady confessed. "The kids will sing or put on plays. The President and some of the other dads will get together and do a song."

When it comes to Christmas shopping for Malia, 15, and Sasha, Mr. and Mrs. Obama have it easy.

"The kids are not in the habit of viewing Christmas as a time for getting gifts," said the wife of the President. "It's about spending time with family and gathering with friends."
