Thanks to celebrity stylist Rachel Johnson and his tailor Leroy Gough, New York Giants' Victor Cruz has placed his jersey on the back burner for high fashion.

As Gough fitted Cruz in a red blazer, GQ's Michael Hainey decided to pick the brains of Johnson and the NY Giants wide receiver.

Johnson, who also is known for styling Miami Heat's Lebron James, wants guys out there to know that you just can't buy your clothes, take them home, and put them on. It is all about the fit.

"That's my mantra. That was one of the first things that Cruz and I talked about," said Johnson. "When he and I met, we went through his closet together and I did a closet assessment for him. There were great things he had in his closet and I'm like 'Well let's try it on, retailor it, resize it, and see how you feel in it.' Once I resized one thing, he wouldn't wear any of his other existing items."

Cruz admitted that at first he didn't give in to Johnson's methods without kicking and screaming first.

"Sometimes your a little hesitant when she is taking all your clothes and she's like 'Well we can do this' and I'm like 'Hold on, like I wear a lot of that stuff'," said Cruz. "So I gave her a few pieces, they came back, I put them on, and I was like 'Rachel I'm give you everything'."

Another lesson men can learn from Johnson is that your tailor should be like your barber.

"Once you found the perfect tailor, just like you go to your barber and he knows how you want your hair cut and you go to him every week, your tailor should be the same way. Tailor, Bible, barber," Johnson enforces.

Cruz backed that notion when saying, "I've had my barber since I was fourteen right until this day so it is the perfect example."

While Gough fitted the red blazer on him, Cruz emphasized that it is all about slimming it down. The clothes are not too tight or too loose where the football player is swimming in them.

"I can still through a punch, I can still catch a pass," said Cruz when describing the comfortable fit.

However, having the right fit does pay a price. Cruz revealed that he sometimes endures wise cracks in the locker room. There are those moments when he suffers comments like, "Yo those pants are a little too tight."

"My response every time is 'No my pants fit. Your pants are a little too loose'," explained Cruz.
