Windows Phone Market Share Notches 10-Percent Mark In Europe At The Expense Of Apple's Continuous Decline

In the past two years, the Windows Phone mobile platform has gone a long way, and right now it is finally one of the main platforms which consumers and smartphone buyers can choose from. In effect, the Windows Phone market share has gone up once more in Europe, while the once most popular platform in the region continues to lose steam.

In a 3-month report by market analyst company Kantar Worldpanel, Windows Phone was able to reach 10-percent of its total market share in Europe. In comparison, the platform only has 4.7 percent in the same period last year, so that means there was an increase of over 100 percent.

According to the report, most of the Windows Phone devices sold during that period were manufactured by Nokia, and two of these bestsellers include the Lumia 520 and 620.

In the UK alone, WP market share rose from 4.6 to 12 percent within a year, which is a great achievement considering the tight competition against Android and iOS.

Speaking of Android, the Google-owned platform topped the charts with 70.9 percent market share, up from 63.9 percent last year.

Unfortunately for Apple, its iPhone 5s and 5c seem to have failed in getting the EU's attention as iOS-powered handsets only had 15.8 percent share of the pie, down from last year's 21.1 percent during the same period.
