Upcoming Android Phones 2013: Archos Releases Rugged And Heavy-Duty Droid Able To Withstand Drops, Water, Dust And Snow Resistant

For most smartphone users, getting a phone wet or dropping it from a few feet high is already considered a pre-mature farewell to their loved device. But if you are looking for a durable and rugged Droid, then you better one of the upcoming Android phones in 2013, the Archos Quecha Phone.

In case you haven't notice, the name was derived from Quecha, a company that produces outdoor gear used in hiking, trekking, and other outdoor activities. This means Archos has developed a decent smartphone built for adventure.

The Quecha phone looks kinda rough, but that's because it is indeed a rugged phone for the adventure-lover. It has an IP54 certification which means it can withstand drops, is water, dust, and snow resistant, and would still be able to work just fine even after exposed to extreme heat or cold.

Unfortunately, that's where all the good news end as under its sturdy hood lies midrange specs. The Quecha Phone packs a 5-inch screen with unknown resolution, a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.2Ghz, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory.

Other notable features include a hefty 3,500mAh battery that promises over 22 hours of talk-time, a microSD card slot, a 5MP camera, and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box.

According to the report by Android Authority, the Archos Quecha Phone will hit stores this month and will cost €230 or about $310. There are no details yet when it will arrive to the US market, but if it does, it would probably only be available off-contract.
