It might be still too early to collect for the NBA season predictions, but with the looks of the Eastern Conference in the NBA there is a huge possibility that one team from the West, or the top two teams in the East might get the crown this season.

"Listen, no one can explain just how bad it is," said ESPN's Jeff Van Gundy. "I mean, there's just no explanation."

So, how bad is it? The Atlantic Division right now may have the worst division record of all time - that's how bad it is. But, we can't conclude with just a quarter of the season done. But, if they continue their winning percentage to that low, we might see one of the worst seasons in the NBA.

Another proof how bad the Atlantic Division is right now is that Toronto Raptors are ahead of the division with just a 6-10 record. In addition to that, the two most expensive teams in the NBA are on the bottom of the East division. The Knicks and the Nets are 3-13 (.278) and 3-13 (.188), respectively.

"I've always been of the belief that no teams should make the playoffs with a sub-.500 record," said Van Gundy.

On the other hand, however, the West only has three teams under the .500 mark - Wolves 9-10 (.474), Kings 4-12 (.250) and Jazz 4-15 (.211).

Van Gundy, who was a former NBA head coach-turned-analyst, suggests that winning teams from the West replace the ones in the East to balance things out.

The East are doing poor with only three teams on and above the .500 winning percentage mark - Indiana Pacers 16-2 (.889), Miami Heat 14-4 (.778) and Washington Wizards 9-9 (.500). Yet again, this is not the end, this is just the beginning of the NBA season and too early to make predictions.

But looking on the bright side, any team in the East has a shot at the playoffs.

"The good news for any fan of any Eastern Conference team," Arturo Galletti, a blogger at boxscoregeeks.com, who specializes advanced metrics and stats said, "is any of the teams in the East could make the playoffs right now."
