Beatles Paul McCartney Gets A Little Help From His Friends To Play For His Third Wife's Birthday In Japan

Beatles member Paul McCartney who is on his Out There world tour promoting his newest album, “New” released in October this year, stopped by Japan to celebrate his wife’s birthday with a little surprise.

The fab four bassist surprised guests and his wife when he hired The Parrots, a Japanese Beatles cover band to play for Nancy Shevell’s birthday in Tokyo.

Paul McCartney even joined the band to play a Beatles classic “I Saw Her Standing There” which made the band happy and thrilled for the chance to play the music with one of their heroes.

Guests from the party said “It must have been nerve-racking for them to play in front of one of their heroes.

"It also must have evoked a few memories for Paul. The Japanese lads got the thrill of a lifetime when we all screamed for Paul to join them – and he did.

“It was a real treat for everyone, a brilliant night that we’ll be talking about for years to come.”

The Parrots, who are Japan’s top Beatles cover band, consisting of Mamori Yoshii who usually plays John Lennon, Takeshi Noguchi who plays as Paul McCartney, Akihiro Matsuyama as George Harrison, Teruyuki Matsuzaki as Ringo and keyboard player Fumiya Matsuyama barely speak English but still has over 200 Beatles songs that they play with an English accent.

Mamori Yoshii said in an interview: "I first heard The Beatles in 1963, when I was eight. I couldn’t understand a word, but I still used to sing along."

You can watch The Parrots perform “Drive My Car” in a music festival to hear how Japanese they look but still sound like they came from Liverpool in the video below. Close your eyes in some part and you’ll think you’re listening to the Beatles and hear Paul McCartney singing in the background.
