Another glitch in the Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight. Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer has totally refused to negotiate as long as Bob Arum is involved.

The sport of boxing has become too complicated. The fight everyone wants to see has yet to happen and fans have been were given the birds' eye view of the gory details of setting up a major fight. It's no longer a 'sweet science' but 'a bitter taste of pride and greed.'

Bob Arum has gone to the media and told everyone who'll listen that they're pursuing the fight and that all the possible hitches (networks, purse share) can be negotiated.

He reiterated this to USA Today: "We've announced we're willing to make anything happen. Now somebody has got to contact us so we can sit down and explore how it can happen. Isn't that the way normal people deal? You can't wave a wand. I've said unequivocally, we're ready to sit down and see if a deal can be reached."

However, Golden Boy Promotions top man Richard Schaefer has revealed another major glitch which Arum can't remove -himself.

From Boxing Scene: "He's using Mayweather's name to drum up publicity of Pacquiao. When it is convenient for him, he uses Mayweather's name. Mayweather is pretty clear, as clear as it can be. He is not going to be dealing with Arum or Todd [duBoef] or anyone else over there. He doesn't need them. If you want Mayweather-Pacquiao, then okay. Make Pacquiao available and Mayweather Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions will take care of everything."

... "We are not looking to cut Arum out, this is not about not paying Bob. He can have his Top Rank logo on the banner, no problem. He can have a few seats, no problem. It's nothing to do with disrespecting, but if he thinks he's the driving force here - what fucking arrogance does the guy have? ... Arum can call whoever he wants to call, but it's not going to happen with him involved. He's irrelevant in the equation."

So, Schaefer says they understand Pacquiao's contract, and that Top Rank will gain the usual profits from handling Manny. However, they don't want Arum or his people in the negotiations.

It's unlikely that Arum will agree to this, but in the highly remote chance that he does, what will the Mayweather camp use as an excuse?
