Steelers coach Mike Tomlin was fined $100,000 earlier this week for stepping on the field and in the way of the Ravens' Jacoby Jones on a 73-yard kickoff return last week, possibly preventing him from scoring a touchdown. Tomlin wasn't flagged for a penalty despite Jones having to swerve to avoid him, possibly causing him to be tackled from behind.
"I apologize for causing negative attention to the Pittsburgh Steelers organization," Tomlin said in a statement. "I accept the penalty that I received. I will no longer address this issue as I am preparing for an important game this Sunday against the Miami Dolphins."
There's a possibility, depending on the seeding following the season, draft picks could be taken away from Pittsburgh as another penalty.
Mike Wallace is still adjusting to the Dolphins offense. He has 12 catches for 209 yards and two touchdowns over the last two games after grabbing just one through the first 10.
"I'm feeling more comfortable every week in the offense," Wallace said. "It's time to hit my stride. No more warming up. It's time to go. It's December. You've got to make plays now. You don't have time to wait."
Sunday marks his return to Heinz Field for the team he helped lead to a Super Bowl in Pittsburgh.
"It's going to be exciting," Wallace said. "I don't want to get caught up in too much hype about a personal battle with these guys, because it's not really about that. It's about moving forward. These guys stand in the way of our playoff hopes. They're another team in the way that has to go down."
