Last time it was the Cardinals vs Rams was week 1 where St. Louis escaped with a 27-24 victory. Since then, the Rams lost their star quarterback Sam Bradford for the season. It's been up an up-and-down season, while Arizona fell one game behind 8-4 San Francisco and dropped into a tie with 7-5 Philadelphia, which now holds the tiebreaker over Arizona.
"It possibly could, but I think a lot of things have to happen here in the last four weeks," Cardinals coach Bruce Arians told ESPN.com of the officials costing the Cardinals their first postseason berth since 2009. "I would hope that we give up all that talk this week and just focus on the St. Louis Rams."
Carson Palmer has connected on 66.7 percent of his passes for 1,035 yards with seven TDs and two INTs while posting three straight 300-yard games over that span. Palmer, though, lost a fumble last Sunday and had his first two-pick game since Oct. 17. He didn't practice this week because of a nagging shoulder injury. It could be related to him opting not to have Tommy John surgery a few years ago.
ESPN.com reported that Palmer will get the start and indeed play against the Rams on Sunday.
"Sometimes it is good this time of year to give the veteran a couple days off and let the young guy get some reps anyway," Arians said. "He got every mental rep. I'm sure he will be fine throwing the ball."
