Miley Cyrus VMA performance has earned her the Artist of the Year recognition from MTV. The former Disney princess twerking antics has indeed helped her conquer not only the entertainment scene, but the world as well.

Her outrageous VMA performance with Robin Thicke was the year's most talked about event, making her the subject of the headlines since then.

MTV declared on Monday that the awards' night duet on "We Can't Stop" and "Blurred Lines" was the most watched video on the giant network's site. While the MTV artist site dedicated to Miley had the most visits among any other artists on the site.

Last year's artist of the year was the British boy band, One Direction while the year before that Katy Perry ruled.

Head of MTV's music and talent programming strategy said that choosing Miley was definitely an easy decision.

"She dominated the music charts and critics' best-of lists while creating some of the year's most memorable moments," Doyle explained.

Meanwhile, The "Wrecking Ball" singer is shortlisted on the nominees for the Time Magazine's Person of the Year recognition, as she is in for some tough competition with President Barack Obama and Pope Francis.

Time Managing Editor Nancy Gibbs revealed the finalists at the "Today" show, where the anchors already made their bets, with Savannah Guthrie voting for Pope Francis and co-anchor Natalie Morales choosing N.S.A leaker Edward Snowden to win the much-coveted recognition from Time Magazine.

The tongue-wagging singer seems to be on top of the world right now, despite her very public split with fiancé Liam Hemsworth. That didn't stop her from continuing her crazy antics and making the headlines.

Among the number of recognitions Miley received this year was Yahoo's top search for 2013, managing to beat the likes of Justin Bieber, Kim Kardashian or even the roller coaster relationship of "Twilight" sweethearts Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.
