Mega Millions Numbers To Be Announced This Friday The 13th; Who Will Take Home The $400-Million Jackpot?

The Mega Millions jackpot is estimated to be one of the biggest jackpot prizes in lottery history after reaching a little over than $400 million this week. The lucky Mega Millions numbers will be selected this coming Friday.

Before the drawing of Mega Millions numbers on Friday, California Lottery representative Mike Bond is confident that more tickets will be purchased. Since the tickets are being sold in 43 states, Bond says that the chance of winning is 1 in 259 million.

Last October, one family in Maryland took home the jackpot amounting to $189 million. The largest jackpot amounting to $656 million was bagged in March 2012 from several ticket holders in Illinois, Maryland, and Kansas.

In Tuesday's drawing, five tickets matched the Mega Millions numbers' first five digits. Each ticket reportedly won $1 million.

Mega Millions used to have a different procedure. Previously, players select five numbers between one and 56 and another number between one and 15. In the altered system, players will now choose rive numbers between one and 75 and the last number coming from one to 15.

Tickets are still priced one dollar each which further entices players to hoard. According to Beer Depot manager Adi Dalibi whose store sells Mega Millions tickets, people start to flock his store once the jackpot hits $250 million.

If someone will luckily select the Mega Millions numbers this Friday, he or she can receive the full amount of jackpot in annuity payments or choose to take a lump sum payment which is oftentimes 55 percent of the grand prize.

Dalibi hopes that the Mega Millions winner will hail from Michigan because for him, the state will greatly benefit from the jackpot's tax revenue.
