Rihanna and Shakira are working on a duet song together and Twitter is abuzz with speculations that Shakira's new single ft. Rihanna would release on January 14, 2014.

The news about Shakira Rihanna collaboration was revealed by Pitbull in an interview on Kid Kraddick In The Morning. 

Pitbull is promoting his new album Timber feat Ke$ha and during the interview, he let slip that Rihanna is working on a project with Shakira, which is the reason why RiRi could not collaborate with him on Timber.

This is what Pit said, "That is an ironic situation there. The person we were looking at first to work on that record was actually Rihanna and Rihanna had something she had to do with Shakira, so she wasn't able to work on our record."

Thanking Ke$ha, Pitbull said, ""Ke$ha, I want to say thank you very much for giving us as amazing collaboration with 'Timber', which is doing great all around the world."

Though there has been no official confirmation from either RiRi or Shakira, their fans are excited about the two of them collaborating on a duet song.

Rihanna fans have yet another reason to celebrate. The 'Pour It Up' singer bypassed 'Dark Horse' Katy Perry's record of highest No.1s on Billboard Pop Songs Chart. The unusual and unexpected competition between BFF Katy Perry and Rihanna has gossip mills wondering whether their friendship will survive RiRi's record breaking stint.

Katy Perry and Rihanna had tied at the Billboard popularity index with 10 hits each. This week, Rihanna scored yet another number#1 on the charts to create Billboard record of maximum top ranking hits. 

The Stay singer had a prolific year, what with the success of her Diamond tour and the duet with 'The Rap God' Eminem.

Rihanna also thanked her fans through Twitter for making her songs hit number #1 on Billboard charts.
