ESPN Jesus Ad Christmas: The commercial by a Catholic children's hospital was banned to be shown in ESPN for an NCAA basketball game but was later reversed by the sports network because of outrage from Christians.

The ESPN Jesus Ad Christmas commercial said:

"At SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center, we celebrate the birth of Jesus and the season of giving, bringing hope to the many children, parents, and families that we serve.

Our patients are filled with hope as they receive a message each day from the treasure chest beneath our tree of hope. Help us reveal God's healing presence this Christmas. Send your message of hope at Glennon.org."

ESPN said on defense that the company's policies state that they will reject "poilitical or religious advocacies, or issue-oriented advertising" pointing out the Cardinal Glennon Children's Foundation commercial to be banned from their network.

Dan Buck, vice president of the Cardinal Glennon Children's Foundation, on the other hand, was told that their commercial got rejected by ESPN for the reason of "Jesus" and "God" are problematic for their network, referring to their policy.

"They said, 'Yes, it is denied,'" Buck said. "They told us the lines about 'Celebrate the birth of Jesus and 'Help us reveal God's healing message' are problematic. That's a quote from them."

"We've been around since 1956," he said. "No one has ever complained or said that our message couldn't be told."

But after a review by ESPN, the Jesus Ad Christmas release was recalled and un-banned as they have said in a press release emailed to The Christian Post.

"We have again reviewed the ads submitted for the SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center and have concluded that we will accept the original requested commercial," ESPN said. "This decision is consistent with our practice of individual review of all ads under our commercial advocacy standards."
