Ticket sales have heightened now that the Mega Millions jackpot has reached nearly $636 million. It was previously foreseen that the winning Mega Millions numbers would yield a jackpot worth $586 million but lottery officials later changed such prediction because of the soaring ticket sales.

The current Mega Millions jackpot is officially the second largest jackpot in America's lottery history. Last October, creators of the game changed the rules of the game which meant that players could win 1 out of 259 million chances instead of 1 out of 176 million chances. Despite such slim chance, aspiring multimillionaires are still unstoppable from guessing Mega Millions numbers.

Players are enticed to play the game and take chances since the tickets are not expensive. The higher the Mega Millions jackpot prize becomes, the more players shell out money to have tickets.

"We estimate by drawing time we'll be about $75 million ahead in sales," proudly declared Paula Otto, lead director for Mega Millions.

She likewise hinted that if there will be no winner n Tuesday or Friday night's drawings, the winning pot can even reach $1 billion. No Mega Millions or Powerball jackpot has ever reached such amount.
