Controversial Boxer Mike Tyson Says He Is Like A 'Monk'; Insists He Doesn't Have 45 Girlfriends Anymore

Retired American professional boxer Mike Tyson said he is no longer the Mike Tyson of the past who always gets into trouble. In fact, he is now more like a monk who is living a benevolent kind of life.

In an interview with BBC Sport's Radio 5 Live, the controversial 47-year old former champ said that he was able to transform into a better person during the past years that he was away from the media.

"The reason you do not hear anything about me anymore is because I don't go to clubs anymore, I do not have 45 girlfriends any more that I have got to pay for and I'm not spending all that money now - I just don't live that lifestyle anymore," he told BBC.

"I travel all over the world now and talk to interesting people and to me it is like living a monastic lifestyle, like being a monk living in my little shrine because I'm living a magnanimous life now - in my own mind at least and I am dealing with this."

The interview is part of Mike Tyson's promotion for his autobiography book entitled "The Undisputed Truth."

In the book, the world's youngest boxer to win the WBC, WBA and IBF heavyweight titles, shared the details of his controversy-laden life as a professional career as well as his battle against addiction and alcohol.

He also shared some bits of his young life. He revealed that he also got bullied when he was 10 or 11 years old.

"I wouldn't go to school because people would pick on me."

"I was really fat and had a lisp. I so desperately wanted to be like the so-called tough guys."

Undisputed Truth: My Autobiography has received a lot of good reviews since it was released in the market last month. The United Kingdom's Mirror said that the book will be "a real page turner" while both Amazon and Good Reads gave the book 4 out of 5 stars.
