Liverpool will face off against rival Cardiff City on Saturday, placing two of the English Premier League's closely followed teams against each other.

Liverpool, coming out of a 5-0 win over the Tottenham Hotspurs, is expected to be the favorite in the match.

Liverpool Manager Brendan Rodgers described Tottenham Hotspur's attempt to hire him as manager last year as a "close shave" and declared, while dismissing the notion of considering another job offer from White Hart Lane, that the north London club's frequent sacking of managers put him off any idea of working for them, The Independent writes.

"One of the things I looked at was the history," Rodgers said, according to the website.

"They'd had 11 managers in 18 years there so for someone like myself, I needed to create something, I needed to go to a club that was going to give us that opportunity..."

Cardiff City, coming out of a 1-0 win over West Bromwich, is expected to be the underdog in the match but is rumored to give Liverpool a good game.

Cardiff City Manager Malky Mackay is close to being forced out of the club after the owner gave him an ultimatum, The Telegraph reports.

"No one has said any different to me, everything has been as normal. Players have got on with their jobs," said Assistance Manager David Kerslake, according to SkySports.com.

"Without being boring it has been a normal week."
