‘X-Men Days Of Future Past’ Anna Paquin's Rogue Scenes Were Cut From The Film; ‘True Blood’ Star Will Only Appear In DVD Version

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" was notorious for having so many characters. As the theatrical run is being prepared, the movie is starting to feel the consequences.

Director Bryan Singer has sadly announced that there will be changes to the movie. In the post-production editing, they had to cut one sequence, and that happened to be the single sequence which included the character Rogue played by Anna Paquin.

Speaking to EW, Singer elaborates:

"Through the editing process, the sequence became extraneous. It's a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it. But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches and it was just one of the things that had to go. Unfortunately, it was the one and only sequence Anna Paquin was in, the Rogue character was in. Even though she's in the materials and part of the process of making the film, she won't appear in it."

In a movie that seeks to merge two franchise teams (X-Men trilogy and First Class) with a timeline that features the past, present and future coming together, this was probably an expected outcome.

Singer is very careful with his words. He did not want to start any controversy, so he clarifies that it has nothing to do with Anna Paquin's performance:   "She did a fantastic job. She was awesome in the sequence. She's a brilliant actress. I would work with her in a heartbeat."

The 'True Blood' star was informed by the development. Singer broke it to her himself:  "She completely understood. It's very disappointing, but she's very professional and she knows that stuff happens, particularly with material you shoot early on in production. Films evolve."

The scene involved a rescue that featured the cast from the original trilogy: Elder versions of Magneto and Charles Xavier, Rogue and Iceman. It was probably cut to reduce the movie's run time.

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" will be released on May 23, 2014.
